Shapeshifting: Techniques for Global and Personal Transformation
By John Perkins
An exploration of the shamanic practice of shape shifting and the story of how learning these techniques helped the author transform from corporate executive to environmental activist. Many indigenous cultures have known the art of shapeshifting: the actual transformation of a human being into another living creature. Lakota Sioux warriors would shapeshift into buffalo to become better hunters and to honor the animal, and Andean shamans transform into plants from the jungle to learn healing power. In this book, author John Perkins examines these ancient shamanic practices and reveals the mental techniques that enable an individual to merge with another living creature. Shapeshifting is also the story of the author’s transformation from a corporate utility executive to an environmental activist. Examining the shamanic techniques of “becoming the other” from different cultures, the author shows how it is within the capability of anyone to transform themselves on this deep level and achieve a true unity with all things.
This is an excellent book and one that truly reminded us of our journeys in the Amazon. So many similar experiences to what John describes. Someday we will write a book on our journey there as it was a major life changing event. This book is very reflective of many of the reasons why we chose the name of Shapeshifter. – ShapeshifterDNA

Don Juan and the Power of Medicine Dreaming: A Nagual Woman’s Journey of Healing
by Merilyn Tunneshende
A journey of healing and transformation through Toltec mysticism, shamanic dreaming, and the teachings of the Mayan prophecies. The author studied with don Juan Matus and the Nagual sorcerers who taught Carlos Castaneda. Includes numerous transcripts of Toltec Dreamwork sessions, providing examples of how dreamwork can transform personal life challenges. Merilyn Tunneshende learned the secrets of Dream Power, energetic healing, and sorcery from don Juan Matus, the Toltec shaman who mentored Carlos Castaneda. This book is her personal story of over 30 years of interaction with the mystical guides, dreams, and prophecies of the Maya. Through her journey we learn of the power of transmutational energies and how they might be applied to heal and transform our world.
Great adventure story in the spirit of Shamanic explorations and shapeshifting in the dream state. – ShapeshifterDNA
Don Juan and the Art of Sexual Energy: The Rainbow Serpent of the Toltecs
by Merilyn Tunneshende
The secret sexual energy practices of Toltec-Mayan shamans revealed at last. The author studied with don Juan Matus and the same circle of Nagual sorcerers who taught Carlos Castenada. Offers specific step-by-step instructions for mastering the ancient sexual techniques that lead to spiritual transformation. Readers of Carlos Casteneda have often complained that his work in ancient Meso-american shamanism never covered sexual practices beyond celibacy. With his death in 1998 it seemed that these practices might never be revealed, but fortunately Merilyn Tunneshende has stepped in. Set against the backdrop of the golden deserts of Sonora, Mexico, Don Juan and the Art of Sexual Energy recounts Tunneshende’s initiation into the ancient sexual energy practices of the Toltec-Mayan tradition. Under the tutelage of don Juan Matus, Chon Yakil (whom Castenada referred to as Don Genaro), and dona Celestina de la Soledad, she learns to reclaim her feminine power and balance the masculine and feminine forces within herself. At the heart of the book is the mythical Rainbow Serpent: the phallic energy within women, the creative power within men. Each chapter focuses on a particular technique for awakening the serpent and connecting with its energy. Twenty-two sequential practices are covered, providing a powerful program for serious spiritual transformation.
Powerful teachings for those transforming their sexual energy towards the spiritual and transformational aspects. Good chapter on Shapeshifter Dreaming. – ShapeshifterDNA
The Sorcerer’s Crossing: A Woman’s Journey (Compass)
by Taisha Abelar / Forward by Carlos Castaneda
An intriguing if incredible-sounding account of anthropologist Abelar’s training by the same mysterious family of sorcerers that allegedly spawned Carlos Castaneda. In the late 60’s, while she was sketching the mountains around Tucson, Abelar met Clara Grau, a charismatic Mexican woman. Somehow, Grau persuaded young Abelar to abandon her solitary and rudderless life and to visit her house in Sonora, Mexico. What followed was an extraordinary induction into a family of 16 sorcerers. In a self-consciously academic preface, Abelar describes her training as a sorceress as “breaking the perceptual dispositions and biases that imprison us within the boundaries of the normal everyday world and prevent us from entering other perceivable worlds.” In the telling, however, the movements and exercises that led up to the perceptual leap called “the sorcerers’ crossing” is pure, well, Castaneda, full of walloping energies and wise teachers dispensing dramatic insights. Castaneda himself explains in a supplemental preface that Abelar was trained as a “stalker”–as opposed to a “dreamer”: no drugs, but an exercise called the “recapitulation,” in which Abelar had to liberate herself from every imprisoning memory and attachment.
An inspiring piece of work that delves deeper into the aspects of recapitulation, which is so important in order to reclaim your lost power which will enable you to shapeshifter with less strain on the physical form. – ShapeshifterDNA

Shaman, M.D.: A Plastic Surgeon’s Remarkable Journey into the World of Shapeshifting
by Eve Bruce, M.D.
A highly successful plastic surgeon embraces shamanic healing techniques and helps her patients experience true beauty and ecstasy. Shows readers how to embody the spiritual within the physical to shapeshift their lives on all levels. Both an exceptional personal journey and an extraordinary exploration of the nature of real healing. As a dual board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon and the first non-Quechua woman to be initiated into the Circle of Yachaks (bird-people shamans of the Andes), Dr. Eve Bruce sees herself as an agent of change in both worlds. After traveling to Central and South America to study indigenous healing techniques, Bruce realized that although our culture is obsessed with narrowly defined standards of physical beauty, we actually devalue the physical because we separate it from the spiritual. She saw that her plastic surgery patients who felt ashamed of their “vanity” had the least successful outcomes. Those ready for change on emotional and spiritual levels were able to use the physical “shapeshift” provided by the surgeon’s knife to transform their entire lives. By integrating the two healing modalities of surgeon and shaman, Bruce is able to help people shapeshift into newfound health on all levels–physical, emotional, and spiritual. Because she bore her first child at sixteen, rose to the challenges of single motherhood, and worked her way through medical school, Bruce learned early to redirect the flow of her life, turning apparent obstacles into opportunities. As a powerful example of the human capacity for self-transformation, Bruce is uniquely qualified to inspire readers to redirect their own lives to places of beauty and self-acceptance.
